Education?
See that's what they call it.
But they teach us to do, not to think.
A genius doesn't answer every question perfectly,
A genius questions every answer given.

A system that judges success by the amount of bills you have,
Makes you work to the bone,
Cuts your soul in halves,
Make us seem like a bunch of clones?

Are we nothing more than machines?
Fill in the right answer, nothing more is accepted.
Thrown away if you can't follow instructions,
Is this in efforts in increase production?

Shall we drive the passion away from everything?
When everyone tries only to survive,
Shall we exist solely to die?
A system that completely determines your life.
Wasn't this system meant for us to thrive?
The education system isn't AS BAD as I make it out to be in this poem. But there certain things I've noticed, as students, which are just plain stupid.
They teach us to do something and not to actually think for ourselves. A friend of mine can solve math equation (and get the right answer) easily through reasoning and not the way they teach it at school, yet they give him low marks simply because he doesn't "show his work". Yet, it's the way Albert Einstein himself solved math problems.
Another thing I've noticed is they drive the passion out of every subject imaginable in school. I loved languages as a kid; it was only once entering school that I slowly gained a hatred for the subject. They don’t really excess your creativity as much as they should. Yes, every now and again I’ll have the freedom of writing with a free heart for a school assignment, but most of the time, they’ll have creative limitations, which I hate, with a passion.

Yes modern Public education and very soon and slowly private education is killing creativity.

I was terrible at school only because I always thought outside the box my teachers and my classmates regarded me as ahead of my time.

I have ADHD btw (According to the School system)

I think this is why I have such limited respect for academia in general.  It discourages original thought.  Early on, you draw your own pictures and tell your own stories.  Later on, they just tell you to write reports on what other artists drew and wrote, implying that you might as well write about them, because you have no hope of producing anything that good.  Do you see what I'm saying?

Yeah, definitely. But at the same time, Teachers don't choose what they have to teach, it's setup by the government or, in the case of college, the institutions of the field you're in.

Like...one of my English Teachers in High School took me to the side once to tell me to keep a portfolio of my creative writing since it was obvious that I liked to write. She said it would be of use one day.

You said all the things in a poetic way, quite impressive and true. There are students who are the toppers but when they are asked to explain something they can't. I found some similar thoughts in one of the portal of essay writing service (papersville.com/essay/ over here) but I liked yours a lot.

Yup. Education is meant to prepare us for fulfilling our functions within society, not to actually extend our knowledge or understanding or... pretty much anything. I find it discouraging and downright frightening.
